I am interested in traditional craft with a childlike curiosity.
Starting to work with a new medium to find my artistic aesthetic in each technique excites me. Through repetition and experimenting, forms and characters appear that lived in the subconscious, when it’s time they surface. When I feel safe, I move on.
Sometimes time passes and a medium feels unfamiliar again, that’s when I pick it up again.
Stay curious, keep experimenting.
Artist Statement
Background
Sophie-Marie Hahner is a designer and artist based in Munich.
After studying Accessory Design in Pforzheim University and working 10 years as a Color/Material/Finish and Accessory Designer for Premium Automotive Brands, her Sophie decided to dedicate her full attention to towards her art and design practice. In her studio she works with several medias like painting, jewelry making and sculpting. She also offers art workshops for small groups.

There was a time, when Atelier Viso was set up in a converted closet in the back of an old-timer RV.
Traveling through Europe and later New Zealand was a turning point.
