SUSTAINABILITY

NO SEASONS

Atelier Viso does not support the idea of fast fashion.
Therefore there are no seasons, schedules or other rules for collections.
The purpose of Atelier Viso is to celebrate creativity, love for detail and craftsmanship.
To honor these, I see no point in invalidating pieces just because a few weeks have passed.
My creations will not only accompany you for one season, but hopefully for a lifetime.

METALS

Casted Metals
All cast jewelry is made from 100% recycled silver, brass or gold.
The refineries I work with are based in Germany.

Built Jewelry
For jewelry that is made from scratch I use recycled metals.
My metal suppliers are based in Europe, most of them in Germany.

STONES & PEARLS

Stones
The procurement of fairtrade / ethical stones is currently the most difficult (procurement) topic.
As a small business, it is incredibly difficult to find out where stones really come from and what the working conditions are like.
Often I have to buy stones from “retailers” for goldsmiths because I can only buy a few stones.
Although I have found some new suppliers of stones from whom I can order directly,
the chain of dealers is still quite long and not transparent.
Another way to source stones is through vintage,
which I'll be exploring in the near future.


Since I currently have a limited inventory of stones,
I will use these up and try to find new, more sustainable sourcing options.

Pearls
I currently only use freshwater pearls.
But here too, as mentioned above, I often had to shop at these “retailers” - so I'm currently using up my inventory.
Last year I also found some new suppliers for pearls so I am testing these out now and will keep you updated if this is my new alternative!

PACKAGING

I want my customers to be able to trust that their products come from a place with minimal waste.
What to know about my packaging:


Shipping material
Shipping material means all the necessary
packing material that are being used to get your order safe to you.

Reused shipping material
Very often I have to order utensils myself, so I reuse all of the packaging material I received.
When you receive one of these reused boxes, there may be logos, stickers or similar details from other companies on it.
There may also be plastic filler material in the box. If this is the case, it is filler materials that I have reused.

Recycled shipping material
If I need to order shipping materials, they are recycled and recyclable.
I am trying to find supplies that will protect your order and are easy to reuse.
Please support by reusing shipping materials.

Stickers, tapes & stamps

If you've already ordered from me, you may have noticed that I don't use stickers unless absolutely necessary.
The only sticker you'll find is a postage label and sealing tape.
I know stickers are beautiful, but keeping the packaging simple is easier when you try to offer recyclable / reusable packaging.
When something really needs to hold together, I use a small piece of wash tape. :)

My sealing tape is a water activated tape with a plant starch based adhesive.
(Unfortunately, the current version contains fiberglass, which I didn't realize until it arrived ...
ideal for protecting the order, but unusable for composting / recycling.
However, the next version is compostable and recyclable. Promise!)

Instead of stickers, I use a stamp!
I like the look of a nice postage stamp, the old school feel, and it's a lot more sustainable!
A stamp is also useful for sharing small notes or information with you. :)
I.e. the “my philosophy stamp” or “Please reuse or recycle”.

Jewelry packaging
When placing your order, you can choose from regular jewelry packaging or gift packaging.

Regular jewelry packaging:
- textile jewelry pouch made from canvas with a printed logo
- little card with care informations, made from recycled
cotton (scraps from t-shirt production)
- letter insert made from recycled cardboard
- postcard with personal note

Gift jewelry packaging:
- cardboard jewelry box with hand embossed logo &
stapled corners
- textile jewelry pouch made from canvas with a printed logo
- recycled wrapping paper
- postcard with personal note
